Every business will have objectives both short-term and long-term. However, how you set your goals and how you intend to achieve them is essential to the success of your business. At the same time, the kind of goals you set will impact on the growth of your company. Today, there are better ways of setting goals and tracking achieved goals. This has been made possible through the use of OKRs.

OKRs is just an acronym of Objective and Key Results. This is a goal management framework that allows companies to implement strategies. This goal management framework has become popular among all type of businesses nowadays. The framework is designed such that you will be able to measure and track objectives, as well as their outcomes. Because of this, companies are able to focus their effort on important issues in the entire organization.

Many companies have over the years used traditional ways of setting their annual goals. However, employees forget about such goals too soon. Also, traditional ways of setting goals become difficult to measure and track progress. Therefore, managers cannot know who is achieving or underachieving. However, OKRs framework eliminates such challenges. This is because it is easier to track progress and know the highly engaged individuals and disengaged employees.

When using OKR to achieve the goals, you will have a structure that will help you to work smarter not harder. But in order for your OKRs to be successful, there are certain things you will need to do that include the following.

1. Having clear objectives.

Having a foggy objective will be a huge mistake. You cannot achieve what is not clearly defined. Therefore, ensure that the objective can be understood by everyone.

2. Inspiring objectives.

When you have a clear objective, it must not be dull. Even if you want to make it plain and simple for all to understand, the objective should make them aspire as well. This will help in setting high goals. It will not just inspire teams to push themselves but will make them think outside the box to achieve such high goals.

3. Public objectives.

It should be a transparent rule that everyone’s objectives are known by everyone in the entire organization. Therefore, every individual member will know how their objectives are aligned with the company’s goals.
